How To: Tile A Kitchen Splashback On A Budget
Luckily, a tiled splashback will offer both style and practicality for your kitchen, and – as we show you in this post – it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. So, with this is mind, our design experts share their top tips to tile a kitchen splashback on a budget…
A timeless classic that’s favoured by interior designers around the world, white tiles will not only brighten up a dull, outdated kitchen but also boast a pocket friendly price tag, too. Available in a wide variety of sizing formats and matt or gloss finishes, there are budget white tiles to suit all styles and tastes.
Want to inject some character to your splashback? Even the most plain tiles can look striking with a funky layout, as our Interior Design advisor Rhys Woosnam points out: “ From quirky vertical layouts and various running bonds to more intricate herringbone formats, there are plenty of ways to transform plain tiles into something with real wow factor.” Read more about Tile layouts here.
Long gone are the days where white grout reined the tile kingdom. Darker shades, as well as polished finishes with coloured grouts, are quickly becoming a popular choice for tiled surfaces and splashbacks. What’s the big deal? Our MD, Steve Dunlop, explains; “I particularly love dark grouts for white gloss tiles as it can really add the finishing touch to those gorgeous polished styles. As an added bonus, it’s less likely to show any telltale signs of staining than white grout, too.”
Want to get a bit creative with your splashback? There are plenty of budget mosaics that will add style, character and texture to your kitchen, as Marketing Manager, Paul Odell, explains; “Being a bit quirky doesn’t have to break the bank. We’ve travelled around the world to find plenty of eye-catching mosaics that offer a variety of textures and finishes. From glass and natural stone to metallic and crystal accents, the choice is endless! And, as your splashback is a relatively small area to tile, it’s a great way of adding some character to your home without breaking the bank”.
